About
The West Plains PFAS Filter study is a scientific research study sponsored by the Water Quality Research Foundation to understand the real-world performance of household water filters for PFAS.
Study Motivation
- The household water filter market is confusing! Many people aren’t sure which filters to buy and if they will be effective.
- Public health agencies often don’t have real world performance data to make recommendations.
- Filter users impacted by PFAS need assurance that filters are working to keep them safe.
Study Goals
- Provide confidence in using household water filters for PFAS in well water
- Identify if any problems exist with household filters for removing PFAS from well water
- Support public health agencies and other communities nationwide in making health protective recommendations and decisions for PFAS
Study Overview
We will test both existing filters already installed in people’s homes (Phase 1), and newly installed filters in high-risk households (Phase 2).
